Good to know
MONEY
We recommend that you bring at least 200 € in cash for your stay at Casa Paco D’ihas. There is no ATM on the premises (you'll find one in Ericeira). Though you might need to spend nothing, there's a good chance you'll want a massage, do laundry, get something from the snack bar or other small extras, or some cash for a cab ride on self-study days. Portugal is a cash sort of country for the most part.
WIFI + USE OF CELLPHONE
Free Wifi is available at Casa Paco D’ilhas. It's available in the living room/dining area and does reach some rooms but not all. We highly recommend that you DISCONNECT as much as possible during these three weeks. Try to minimise your time on the internet/social media to immerse yourself fully into the training. It’s quite a rare opportunity to have this amount of time to yourself, so make the most out of it!
ELECTRICITY
Portugal has 230 volts and a plug that has two round pins (type C).
LAUNDRY
The cost for laundry at Casa Paco D’ilhas is 10-15€ for one load (try to share with others if you don’t have a lot to wash) payable onsite in cash.
WEATHER
Temperature will most likely be between 14-22 degrees celsius - quite unpredictable, some days sunny and warm, other days it might be raining. In the evenings it can feel quite chilly.
FOOD
All the meals served during the training will be vegetarian. NOTE: If you have any food allergies, please let us know as soon as possible. We have breakfast at 9.30am, lunch at 1.45pm and dinner at 7pm. Some days we'll adjust the times slightly. The meals at our venue are abundant. This being said, most of us need a little snack sometimes. An honesty bar will be available all day with healthy snacks, fruit as well as coffee, tea and cold drinks.
WATER
You can drink the tap water in Portugal. There will also be filtered tap water available in the common area. Please bring a REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE for your stay.
THERAPIES/MASSAGES
As you’ll be practicing A LOT (most likely much more than you usually do) you might want to book yourself a body work/massage session at Casa Paco D’ilhas. There isn’t much spare time as we have a lot to cover during the training, but there will be some self study time / days where it will be possible, as well as in the evenings before/after dinner. You’ll get more information about the different therapies offered as you arrive. The treatment rates vary depending on how long and which type, from 50 - 90 €, to be paid in cash.
SELF STUDY DAY
During the training we will not have any days off. There will be two full self-study days where you can take your studies to the beach (if the weather allows for it), to nature around Casa paco D’ilhas or wherever you like. We’ll give you the tasks a day or two ahead so you have the option to rest or take a little field trip for part of the self-study day. We can relly recommend a little trip to Ericeira! We will give you all practical details and more information about these days and when it will be at the beginning of the training.

Covid-19 – our recommendations
We would like to give you all as well as ourselves a friendly reminder to be very cautious leading up to the training. For all our sakes, let’s try to stay healthy in order to protect each other and this precious time together.
From at least March 22 and until we meet, please minimise your contact points with other people as much as you possibly can in order to stay safe. It might be a given at this point, but we all need to be reminded. Look at the time leading up to your trip as a self quarantine in order to protect your investment in yourself.
- Avoid crowds
- Avoid public transportation
- Avoid close contact with individuals who may be exposed
- If you cannot avoid the above, take precautions to protect yourself from getting infected
- If you are suspecting that you could have caught the Covid-19 virus, get tested immediately, contact us if you test positive and let’s take it from there
- Avoid spending tourist time in Portugal prior to training. If you plan to arrive the day before training begins, you can book an extra night with our venue.
Currently (mid February) Portugal is in strict lockdown, and for most travelling to Portugal you have to provide a fresh PCR test for travel purposes. Please prepare for the event that this is still the case when you go to Portugal. If this is lifted, we (True North Vinyasa) may still require that you do a covid test before we meet so that we can relax once we are together.
We'd also like to remind you to respect the fact that we come from different countries with different takes on how to tackle the pandemic. In Portugal, the use of a mask is mandatory on public transportation. Social distancing is also mandatory. Use of mask is advised in public outings and disinfection of hands is advised. There is no mandatory confinement. We recommend you bring a face mask and a small bottle of hand disinfectant for your trip.
